How to find the VIN number

On Your Vehicle

Dashboard (Windshield): From outside the car, look at the driver’s side of the dashboard near the bottom corner of the windshield. You should see a metal VIN plate.

Driver’s Door Jamb: Open the driver’s side door and check the door post (where the door latches). A certification label with the VIN is often located there.

Under the Hood: Some vehicles display the VIN on a plate or stamp inside the engine compartment.

Vehicle Frame: On certain older vehicles, the VIN may be stamped on the front end of the chassis or frame.

On Your Documents

Vehicle Title: The VIN is listed on your vehicle’s title.

Registration: Your state registration paperwork will include the VIN.

Insurance Documents: Your auto insurance card or policy should also display the VIN.

A small town scene with a prominent white building marked 'Fraser Mercantile Company' in the foreground. The building is surrounded by a few smaller houses and vehicles parked along the road. In the background, snow-capped mountains stretch across the horizon under a sky filled with unique, layered cloud formations.

A quaint old-fashioned store displays goods outside, set against the backdrop of a mountain and greenery. The building has a rustic, brick facade with vintage signage. An American flag is displayed on the front porch.
